ECE 480 - 40 - Project Green Link

Semester: Spring 1997

Instructor: Dr. Arthur W. Kelley

Description: Project Green Link is a cross-disciplinary effort combining involving students and faculty from the Department of Horticulture and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The plant database of the NCSU Arboretum is one of the best kept public secrets in horticulture. For the Arboretum to fully realize its mission, this database needs to be more readily available to students and faculty at NCSU, in the community college system and in the primary and secondary schools, as well as horticulture professionals and the general public. Project Green Link will combine a relational database, mapping system, and world wide web site to maintain and distribute this information for all audiences. ECE Dept. students will work with students in the Horticulture Dept. to design and implement this system using FileMaker Pro, MapInfo, and WebStar. See the existing NCSU Arboretum WWW site and envision adding 10,000 plants with photos.
